14.4. 3D Graphing

To sketch the graph of an equation in a 3-dimensional coordinate system:
1) Switch to Graph mode by going to Menu > Graph.
2) Tap the 3D button in the top left corner next to the special points button.
3) Type the equation in the input field.
4)  To change the inclination of the 3D coordinate system, use the degree scrollers next to the graph.
     To move the inclination up or down, scroll through the degrees on the right side of the workspace.
     To rotate the system horizontally, scroll through the degrees below the graph. 
5) To change the size of the graph, pinch the graph to stretch it.
6) To adjust the axes, drag an axis to scroll through coordinates.

Examples
Sketch each equation in a 3D coordinate system.

1) sin(xy)
2) y = 2x – 3
3) sinx cosy
4) x³y³
5) (x² + y² – 1)³ – x²y³

Calculator solutions
1) ​Enter the expression as given: sin (xy)​

2) Enter the expression as given: y = 2x - 3

3) Enter the expression as given: sin x cos y

4) Enter the expression as given: x^3 * y^3

5) Enter the expression as given: (x^2 + y^2 - 1)^3 - x^2 y^2

If you decide to restore the original size or view of the graph after adjusting it, tap the blue button in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Example
Sketch the graph of sinx cos y.

Calculator solution
To sketch the graph, type in the expression: sinx cosy.

Adjust the view by scrolling through the degree measures next to the graph as shown below.

Tap the blue circle in the bottom right to return to the original graph.
